FACTORS TO CONSIDER BEFORE CHOOSING A DEGREE PROGRAM
A degree program is a bachelor’s or undergraduate program offered by several institutions of higher learning after completion of the required courses. There are different degree programs that relate to the various fields leading to an individual’s acquisition of professional status. Before a person decides what program to undertake, there are factors to be put under consideration. These are some of the factors that may influence the choice of the degree program.
PASSION
Passion refers to a strong feeling one might have about a particular thing. If you are pas
sionate about something,that means you are drawn effortlessly to doing that thing. A person’s interests are more often than not things they are good at that do not require them to put in too much work to get results. If they feel their passion lies in helping other people and they have shown exceptional performance in the sciences, they may decide to take a course in medicine or if they are interested in writing for a living, they can do a degree in literature.
ABILITY
The ability can be defined as the natural aptitude or the ease with which a person can carry out a task given to them to do. Aptitude or ability can be measured using tests made by an individual with experience and skill. The test scores are meant to show patterns of abilities which an interpreter can analyze. After analysis of these patterns, an individual can be guided to choose the most productive undergraduate program that will make them succeed and most content.
GOALS
Goals are a person’s objectives. What an individual wants to attain after finishing an undergraduate degree will influence the major they decide to undertake. Goals must be realistic and specific. They must be measurable and timely as well.
SKILL
Skill is gained from attending a training program, or from practicing doing something. It is learned with time. It can be used to determine the degree program an individual decides to pursue.
PERSONALITY
An individual’s personality pertains to four major factors. These include their intuition which is how they perceive information, where they place their attention, how they make decisions depending on their way of thinking and their way of dealing with the world. Having one’s personality assessed is a means of fostering healthy relationships with other people, promoting and taking advantage of innovation and obtaining success. One should choose a program in line with their personality.

A good institution or college is relative to every individual’s needs and priorities. But there are those reasons that are common to most if not all people. These factors to consider when deciding which college to join include:

The first category is the colleges that are an individual’s first choice but that could be hard to get into. The second category is the schools that are not hard for the individual to get into but that they would be happy to attend. The third category is considered safety schools because one is assured of admission. It is recommended for there to be three colleges in each category so that there are chances to be accepted by more than just one college and in a case where one gets more than one admission letter, they are able to pick the institution that would be the best option for them.
GOALS OF THE INDIVIDUAL
Goals are the objectives an individual wants to attain after studying at an institution of higher learning for instance a college. Therefore, they will influence the major the individual decides to undertake. How the college ranks in the major a person decides to study should influence the choice the person should make. The number of students taking the major and members of the said faculty in the college as well as the number of courses offered should also be checked.
CARRYING OUT RESEARCH
Research prior to choosing the college one would want to attend is important because they can get the best recommendations from people with experience and relatable advice. Talking to people who have interacted with you through time could be insightful because the recommendations they may give are given from a point of view they know you from. These may assist the individual to know what is of importance to them.
THE LOCATION OF THE COLLEGE

onsidering the location of the college is important because this is the place the individual will stay in during the period they will be studying. This is just to ensure they are comfortable and are able to study without unnecessary complications.
AVAILABLE FACILITIES AND RESOURCES
Some colleges have options when it comes to housing, they may also provide health services and options for obtaining meals. They may have gyms within the institution, a library and also theatres. The presence of such resources is important in facilitating the ease with which an individual lives while they attend school.
